Lenovo has refreshed its ThinkPad range of products. This year’s ThinkPad range will focus on offering laptops that are designed to be both thinner and lighter. They will of course all be powered by the latest 8th generation Intel Core processors. Lenovo says it has also placed a lot of emphasis on security and is providing users with options such as eye tracking IR cameras, fingerprint readers and even a new ThingShutter Privacy camera.
Flagship offerings provide first-in-kind capabilities
Lenovo will be refreshing the ThinkPad X, T and L series of laptops. The main attractions however are the ThinkPad X1 Carbon and the Thinkpad X1 Yoga both of which are the first laptops in the world to offer support for Dolby Vision HDR. The ThinkPad X1 Yoga will also be the first of its kind in terms of being a convertible that comes with LTE-A capabilities and an integrates pressure sensitive pen. As we mentioned earlier both flagship models with have the ThinkShutter Camera that comes with a privacy cover as well as an infrared camera capable of tracking eye movements.
Improved battery life
Other laptops that are being refreshed in the ThinkPad X range include the ThinkPad X280 and X380 Yoga. Both laptops boast durability which is of military grade and support rapid charging capable of charging a battery up to 80 per cent within an hour. Lenovo says the ThinkPad X280 has a battery life of as long as 16.6 hours whilst the ThinkPad X380 has a battery life of 13.6 hours says Lenovo. In terms of the ThinkPad T series, the T480 and T480s are being upgraded as is the T580. The T range of ThinkPad laptops also come with infrared camera, fingerprint reader and the ThinkShutter camera. The T480 weighs just 1.3 kilograms making it on of the lightest business laptops on the market whilst the T580 has the option of a UHD display.
Reflecting the changes in technology
Not to be left out, Lenovo has also refreshed its ThinkPad L series of laptops. The L380 Yoga, L380, L480 and L580 have all been updated. The entire series come with the option of multi-touch display plus a docking solution. Users of the ThinkPad L580 will also be able to choose to include a discrete AMD graphics chip. Its no secret that businesses and their workforce’s have been transformed digitally over the last few years. The latest refresh of Lenovo’s ThinkPad portfolio reflects many of the changes that have taken place.
Suitable for a mobile workforce
This means the ThinkPad portfolio combines the latest Intel processors with the legendary aesthetics of the ThinkPad range. The new products are thin and light as mentioned at the beginning and this means they are well equipped for the mobile workforce of today and tomorrow. All the new laptops that have been refreshed in the ThinkPad range this year feature USB Type-C port for charging with the exception of the L series. Lenovo will also include a new side mechanical dock for all the updated laptops.
